I still remember a season when I prayed every single day for an answer… and heard nothing. I read my Bible, I worshiped, I cried out, and yet the heavens felt quiet.
If you’ve been there — or if you’re there now — you know the ache of that silence. You start to wonder if you’ve done something wrong, if you’ve missed His voice, or if maybe He’s not listening at all.
But here’s what I’ve learned: God’s silence doesn’t mean His absence. Sometimes, He is working behind the scenes in ways we can’t yet see. Sometimes His silence is an invitation to trust Him more deeply than we ever have before.
“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him…” — Psalm 37:7
What to Do in the Waiting
Stay in His Word – Even if it feels dry, Scripture keeps your heart rooted in truth.
Choose Worship – Sing, even through tears. Worship reminds your soul who is in control.
Look for Small Glimpses – Sometimes God speaks through a sunrise, a kind word, or an unexpected act of love.
The silence will not last forever. His timing is perfect, and His answers — whether yes, no, or not yet — are always for your good.
Prayer for the Silent Seasons: Lord, when I can’t hear You, help me trust that You are still near. Give me faith that holds fast in the quiet. Teach me to wait with hope, knowing You are working all things for my good. Amen.
