Imagine for a moment…

You are standing on the edge of a cliff. Below is a churning sea — dark, endless, and roaring with the weight of every wrong you’ve ever done, every regret, every ache you’ve carried. You know that one slip will send you into those waters, and there is no way back.

But then, through the fog, you see Him. A figure steady and strong, walking toward you — not to condemn, not to push you over, but to pull you back. His eyes are filled with something you’ve never seen before: perfect, unconditional love.

That is Jesus.

Why We Need Him

The Bible says that all of us — every single one — have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory (Romans 3:23). Sin is not just “bad behavior”; it’s a separation from God, the One who made us, loves us, and gives us life.

On our own, we can’t bridge that gap. No amount of good deeds, religion, or self-improvement can make us perfect before a holy God. The penalty for sin is death — eternal separation from Him (Romans 6:23).

But here is where the story changes.

God’s Rescue Plan

God did not leave us in the dark. He sent His Son, Jesus Christ — fully God and fully man — to step into our broken world. Jesus lived the life we could not live: perfect, sinless, without flaw. And then, in the greatest act of love history has ever known, He chose the cross.

Picture Him there: The sky grows dark. The earth shakes. The crowd jeers. The soldiers mock. But He stays. Not because nails hold Him there, but because love does.

On that cross, Jesus took the punishment for our sins — every lie, every betrayal, every hidden thought of our hearts — and bore it in His body. He died in our place. And then, three days later, He rose again, breaking the power of sin and death forever.

What This Means for You

This isn’t just an old story. This is your rescue. This is the bridge across the chasm. This is the open hand pulling you away from the cliff’s edge.

Jesus is offering you forgiveness — not because you’ve earned it, but because He already paid for it. Eternal life with Him isn’t something you work for; it’s a gift (Ephesians 2:8-9).

All He asks is that you turn from your sin and trust Him — to believe He is who He says He is, that He died for you, and that He rose again.

How to Respond

If you’ve never given your life to Christ, you can do it right now. There’s no magic formula — it’s about your heart. You can pray something like this:

“Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner. I believe You died for my sins and rose again. I turn from my old life and put my trust in You as my Savior and Lord. Thank You for loving me, forgiving me, and giving me eternal life. I choose to follow You from this day forward. Amen.”

The Invitation is for You

The gospel — the good news — is that no matter where you’ve been, no matter what you’ve done, you are not too far gone. The love of Jesus reaches into the darkest places, the deepest wounds, and the most desperate hearts.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” — John 3:16

If your heart is stirring right now, that’s Him calling you. This is not an accident. This is your moment.

He’s holding out His hand. Will you take it?

With love and light, Kristine Hawkins
