Dear Friends,

When you’re walking alongside a loved one battling addiction, it can feel like an emotional rollercoaster—ups and downs, moments of hope followed by setbacks. It’s a journey that requires not just strength, but also patience—patience with your loved one, patience with the process, and, perhaps most importantly, patience with yourself.

Patience is often easier said than done. It’s hard to wait, to watch, to hope, and to not have all the answers. But remember this: recovery is not a straight path; it's a winding road filled with detours, obstacles, and unexpected turns. Every small step forward is progress, even when it feels slow.

Patience means giving space for healing to happen at its own pace. It’s recognizing that your loved one’s journey is their own, and sometimes, the best support you can offer is to be a steady presence, a source of love and encouragement, without trying to rush their process or control the outcome. It’s about holding on to hope, even when things seem difficult.

If today feels tough, know that it’s okay to take a breath, to rest, to lean on your support network (including this group!), and to practice patience—both with your loved one and with yourself. Remember, you are not alone, and your patience is an act of love that makes all the difference.

With all my heart,

Kristine 💙
